Julie Bertuccelli ’s film, The Tree, with Charlotte Gainsbourg, Marton Csokas and Aden Young, will be presented at the Closing Ceremony of the 63rd Festival de Cannes. Shot in Australia, the film is an adaptation of Judy Pascoe’s novel, "Our Father Who Art in the Tree". The film will be screened on Sunday May 23rd once the Award ceremony, presided by the American filmmaker Tim Burton, is over. The Festival de Cannes opens on Wednesday May 12th with Robin Hood, by Ridley Scott.

2010 Closing Film: The Tree with Charlotte Gainsbourg
Palme d'Or 2010: Lung Boonmee Raluek Chat
The Palme d'Or has been awarded to Lung Boonmee Raluek Chat (Uncle Boonmee who can Recall his Past Lives) by the Thai director Apichatpong Weerasethakul. Charlotte Gainsbourg, the lead actress of the closing film, The Tree, made the presentation of the ultimate award. The winner declared: "This Palme is very important for the history of Thailand and the Thai people." He thanked, "the spirits and ghosts of Thailand," who allowed him to be where he was today, as well as his parents, who, 30 years ago took him to a small cinema.
Robin Hood screens at the Opening of the 63rd Festival de Cannes:
Robin Hood, the epic blockbuster by British director Ridley Scott, starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett (and Max Von Sydow, Lea Seydoux, William Hurt), is to be screened at the Opening of the 63rd Festival de Cannes on Wednesday May 12th 2010. The film will be presented out of competition.

PALMARÈS DU 63e FESTIVAL DE CANNES Le Jury officiel du 63e Festival de Cannes, présidé par Tim Burton, a dévoilé ce soir son Palmarès lors de la Cérémonie de clôture.
FILMS OUT OF COMPETITION:
UN CERTAIN REGARD La sélection Un Certain Regard met l'accent sur des oeuvres singulières, originales dans leur propos et leur esthétique, qui traduisent le renouvellement de l'expression cinématographique.
COURT MÉTRAGES Parce que les jeunes talents d’aujourd’hui seront les grands noms du cinéma de demain, le Festival de Cannes met en place cette année une nouvelle entité « court métrage ». Au Festival de Cannes, le court métrage est représenté à la fois par la Compétition, à l’issue de laquelle le Jury des courts métrages remet une Palme d’or et par le Short Film Corner, un espace professionnel, lieu de rencontres et d’échanges.
CANNES CLASSICS Cette programmation met le prestige du Festival au service du cinéma retrouvé, des copies restaurées et des ressorties en salles ou en DVD des grandes oeuvres du passé. Cannes Classics accueille également des hommages et des documentaires sur le cinéma.
