A woman. A baby. A journey The motorway between Asunción del Paraguay and Buenos Aires. A truck driver must transport a woman he doesn’t know. The woman is not alone. She´s carrying a baby. There are 1500 kilometres ahead. We are not certain of why we make a certain film until it is finished. Then, we let it go, on its own. I asked myself repeatedly why I was making this particular film. And during the process I came up with several different answers but I was never satisfied with any of them , none of them gave me the peace of mind I needed. Now, in retrospective, I feel the journey started when my father got sick, that was nearly twelve years ago. From that moment, and without being conscious of it, what I considered to be my world started coming up, quickly. I drifted apart from my family. From one day to the next, after ten years of being together, I separated from my wife at the time, and the merciless crisis my country was undergoing at the time left me unemployed, and nearly without a home. All at the same time, over a period of just a few months. It was too much. This film speaks of my pain for the loses, of the loneliness I experienced. Of my need of feeling protected by somebody. Of the son I was at the time, and the father I have not become yet. And of the enormous relief I felt when I realized that I still had a family, after my father passed away. And then I was able of reconnecting with them, and with myself. And it also speaks of the new family I found when I met Maria, my wife. Once I read that we write for somebody who is sitting on the third row of the theater. This film is dedicated to my family, specially to my father, together with whom I started falling in love with films. And it is for Maria, and for the children we do not have yet but that we want to have. My father is no longer with us to see it. I hope my children will come soon, and that, one day, they do see this film. Pablo Giorgelli. Buenos Aires, April 2011. © Bodega Films 2010
